Knit beanie

These beanies are knittet in Acrylic yarn, in a round on double pointed needles 3,5 mm. A bit tricky using 5 needles since it is easy for the stitches to fall of. Everyone keeps recommending me to use circle needle…

Basic pattern to knit a classic beanie

Traditional beanie English rib

Tools: Pointed needles size 7 mm, or size needed to get 10 sts x 16 rows in English rib = 10 x 10 cm. Yarn that can be used: Cotton, Acrylic, Wool.

  • Back and forth on needle-style. K all rows. Rib back and forth on needle.
  • ROW 1 (= RS): 1 back and forth on needle-style st, * K1, 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P *, repeat from *-* until 2 sts remain, finish with K1 and 1 back and forth on needle-style st.
  • ROW 2 (= WS): 1 back and forth on needle-style, * 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P, K tog YO and slipped st *, repeat from *-* until 2 sts remain, finish with 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P, 1 back and forth on needle-style st.
  • ROW 3 (= RS): 1 back and forth on needle-style st, * K tog YO and slipped st, 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P *, repeat from *-* until 3 sts remain, K tog YO and slipped st, 1 back and forth on needle-style st.
  • Repeat row 2 and 3.
  • Cast on 66-72-78 sts on needle size 7 mm. Work first row as follows from WS: 1 edge st in back and forth on needle-style st, * P1, P2 tog *, repeat from *-* until 2 sts remain and finish with P1 and 1 edge st in back and forth on needle-style st = 45-49-53 sts. Continue doing rib.
  • When piece measures 18-19-20 cm, finish after row 3.
  • Knit next row as follows from WS: 1 back and forth on needle-style st, * P1, K tog YO and slipped st *, repeat from *-* until 2 sts remain, finish with P1 and 1 back and forth on needle-style st = 45-49-53 sts.
  • Knit 1 row with K over K and P over P (edge st continues in back and forth on needle-style) and P 1 row from WS. On next row K2 tog across the row (not the edge sts) = 24-26-28 sts. P 1 row from WS.
  • On next row K2 tog across the row. Cut the thread, pull it through remaining sts and fasten.
  • Sew hat tog mid back in outer loops of sts to avoid a chunky seam.
  • Decorate the beanie with a ribbon and a bow.

Soft shawl & hat

Crochet shawl & hat

Used acrylic yarn and a thread of glittery thread, make the shawl look shiny althiugh it’s soft. Made to order with white beanie and matching flower.

Handmade crocheted design, acrylic yarn.
Autumn 2010

Pattern crochet shawl

Start on top of shawl and chain loosely 235 sts.
1st row: 1 sc in the 9th ch from hook, * 6 ch, skip 5 ch, 1 sc in following ch *, repeat *-* until end of row and finish with 6 ch, skip 2 ch, 1 sc in last ch.
2nd row: crochet sl st up to the top of the 1st ch-bow, * 6 ch, 1 sc on top of following bow *, repeat *-* until end of row (this way you’ll dec ½ bow in each side on every row). *-* = 1 repeat.
Repeat 2nd row until there is only 1 bow left. Cut thread and fasten.

Start by putting pearls on the yarn, maximum 30 at the time.
When you run out of pearls on the thread, cut thread (preferably in side of shawl) and put another 30 pearls on the yarn. The idea is that you with even intervals pull up a pearl that will be locked when you crochet following sc.

Swedens Olympic gear 2010

Handmade copies of the crocheted winterhat which the Swedish Olympic team used in Vancouver 2010.
Blue and yellow are our national colours, but might not match with the rest of the wintergear you’re wearing, so why not change the colours for something else?

This one was ordered in white, black, grey and brown instead of the blue and yellow.

Girly gear

I’ve made some girly clothing for a colleague, a pink and green shawl and pink beanie.

My own favourite shawl this winter is handmade with two colors, pink and dark red. This project took about 8 hours to finish.

Crocheting…

Through internet I found all the inspiration I needed to get started crocheting, it’s been years since last time som I hit it off doing some headgears for wintertime as well as shawls and socks for colder days (good since we have lots of those here in Sweden).

I can’t seem to follow a patterns, I always create meanwhile working. The result is always good and appreciated which is thrilling.
